Memorial Day Ritual

Ritual: Memorial Day Ritual Walk
Date: Monday, May 29, 2006
Time: 8:00pm
Location: National Mall
Leader: Carly

Intention: Honor those who have sacrificed in service of our country, reconnect with what is good about our country and the city that represents it, and send positive energy back into the city.

We followed the same route as last year -- starting at the Lincoln Memorial with a brief introduction, grounding, and story, before heading into the memorial. Then we journeyed to the Korean War Memorial, FDR Memorial, Jefferson, and ending at George Mason. We again carried a bouquet of flowers that each person charged and we left as an offering when we reached the George Mason Memorial.

It was a small group, just four of us [info]ninthraven, [info]oldswordsman, [info]zagone and me. It was Friends and Members only this year, but I think I'll open it back to the public next year. I just think people would benefit from the experience, and Memorial Day should be about more than just a day off from work.
